Elderton Grand Tourer Shiraz 2022
Elderton Grand Tourer Shiraz 2022 $59.60
Winemakers Comments In 2022, both our Greenock and Nuriootpa vineyards were lucky to escape damaging hailstorms. Mild conditions throughout the ripening period allowed for optimum ripening with very little rain pressure around harvest time. All the fruit for this wine was handpicked, with picking starting at Greenock and then finished at Nuriootpa, before co-fermenting the fruit in open concrete fermenters. 16% whole bunch from our Greenock vineyard was placed carefully in the bottom of the fermenter before destemming the remaining fruit on top. After 9 days fermentation on skins, the new wine was pressed off to a combination of new and seasoned French oak. The wine was left on lees post malolactic fermentation, for the duration of its time in oak, with frequent lees stirring helping to build mid palate creaminess and seamless integration. - Jules Ashmead & Brock Harrison Style Medium bodied, vibrant yet serious Colour Deep crimson Aroma Fresh blueberry fruits with hints of spice and vanilla Palate Plush fresh fruit reminiscent of summer berry pudding with a spiced note of charcuterie with peppery zest to freshen. Creamy seamless palate with powerful yet collected powdery tannins. Sourced entirely from our Moorilla vineyard (which boasts great variability between blocks and elevations), over a hot, intense vintage, this is a robust vintage of a wine where robustness is the goal. Balanced nicely between fruit (salty cherries, kola, tomato) and oakier, savoury (tobacco-y caramel, hints of char and meat) influences, the palate is a delightful, medium-bodied romp. Woodlands ‘Margaret’ Cabernet Merlot Malbec 2018 - Wine Australia Red - Liquor Wine Cave
Woodlands ‘Margaret’ Cabernet Merlot M... $71.82
Woodlands 'Margaret' is sourced entirely from the Woodlands Vineyard. The Cabernet Sauvignon portion comes from a slope on the south of Woodlands and wraps around a 90-degree radius from east to north. The fruit on this slope receives a great deal of direct sunlight from morning to mid-afternoon, leading to rich full-bodied wines. The Merlot and Malbec plots that make up the remainder of 'Margaret' come from Woodlands' west-facing slope of deep loam soil. This slope receives the most direct afternoon sunlight at Woodlands, and produces more spicy exotic fruit characters in the finished wine.  Vintage 2018 was absolutely ideal and was one of Margaret River's best vintages. AFter a good amount of rainfall at the beginning of the growing season, flowering conditions were near-perfect. Great weather continued from mid-December through till the end of harvest. Just like the vintage itself, 2018 'Margaret' is rich and warming.  2018 'Margaret' is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 10% Malbec.  The colour is deep garnet with a crimson hue. The aromas evoke Christmas-perfumed blackberry, boysenberry and brambly notes. Very inviting and satisfying, and almost relaxed.  The palate opens up with intertwined berry crumble, forest floor, cassis and blackberries, married with grilled chestnuts and toasted breadcrumbs. The structure is powerful, with a ripe core of tannins and a long, velvety finish.

Woodlands Brook Vineyard Chardonnay 2021
Woodlands Brook Vineyard Chardonnay 2021 $55.92
This is a great wine, a stunning example of the potential of the close planted Chardonnay plot at Woodlands Brook.  The somewhat cooler 2021 season allowed an extended harvest - this wine was handpicked between 1 February and 3 March. Each batch was hand sorted by the bunch, the whole bunch pressed. Ferments proceeded without additions, with some malolactic fermentation occurring though not promoted. Following ferment the wine remained in oak (300L Hogs Head, 500L Puncheons, and a Foudre) for 10 months, 25% of which being new.  The colour is bright, pale straw. Aromas of white peach, orange blossom and apricot flare on the nose. Some fine French oak and flinty ferment notes enhance and seduce.  The palate has a lovely entry, leading to a full basket of orchard fruits. This wine carries the weight of the fruit without being heavy, truly dancing on the palate, the bright acidity balancing. The finish lingers with toasted almonds and freshly baked brioche.  A very seductive Chardonnay.
Woodlands ‘Clementine’ Cabernet Malbec Merlot 2019 - Wine Australia Red - Liquor Wine Cave
Woodlands ‘Clementine’ Cabernet Malbec... $55.92
'Clementine' is the Woodlands Brook Vineyard Cabernet blend, taking its name from Andrew and Marie's daughter.  The fruit was harvested over three weeks from the 27th of March 2019, gently destemmed, then hand-sorted berry by berry in the winery.  In 2019 this wine was fermented, without added yeast, which has enhanced the complexity, particularly in the aromas.  following fermentation the wine spent 17 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which were new.  Our 2019 'Clementine' is a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 18% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.  Bright crimson in colour, the nose is saturated with aromas. Fresh acidity keeps everything in balance, while spice and young firm tannins unveil upon decanting.

Fresh lime zest and pretty talc are supported by white florals and pith-like textural quality. The palate is complex, long and even, with the chalky, supple texture lending integrity and wonderful length. Crawford River through and through, with many years ahead of it.
