The Muzard family is one of only three owners here, working 1.47 hectares of vines that are mostly 60 to 70 years old.\n\nBrothers Claude and Herve Muzard, whose family roots in Santenay go back to 1645, ferment the Pinot Noir with about 40 per cent whole bunches and indigenous yeasts, then give it 12 months in barriques, 30 per cent of them new. The reds are bottled unfined with minimal filtration. Expect vibrant red fruit and a dense, mineral palate with purity and length.
