This 100% Barbera from the Oltrepo Pavese DOC has punchy alcohol but is a harmonious balance of big ripe cherry and plum fruit, well integrated cedary oak, medium tannins and cleansing acidity. The estate is located in the hills between PIedmont and Emilia, in an area that used to be known as Old Piedmont – a good one for wine adventurers who'd like to try Barbera from outside Piedmont proper. Would be a good match for charcuterie.
