The Alejandro Vermentino is one wine, but two picks of fruit. The earlier pick was leaner and lighter on the palate but intensely freshly shucked oyster shell with lemon and pepper. The latter pick was rich and oily with salty characters, consistent with rich styles. The resultant wine is full of Vermentino aroma, a medium to full bodied palate, fresh but rich.

VITICULTURE Fruit was sourced from two vineyards in the Hunter Valley, NSW. WINEMAKING Cold fermented in stainless steel using specially selected yeast. PALATE & BOUQUET Tropical fruit bouquet is dominant with hints of fresh kaffir lime. It has a generous textural palate, making its place as a top Hunter varietal.

Rich amber borders highlighting the dark mahogany colour. The nose is wonderful nutty with hints of apricots. A gorgeous palate with subtle suggestions of flowers, dried fruit and toasted nuts, notes of sun-toasted grapes, figs and prunes. Very persistent dark and creamy, with a sweetness balanced by acidity.

Pale straw in colour. Fresh, yeasty, crusty-bread nose with notes of salty almonds. Clean and tangy with a refreshing finish and a softness which makes it delightfully easy to drink. Perfect as a chilled aperitif, accompanied by “tapas” of olives, shellfish, ham, cheese, fish, snacks or sushi. It is one of the rare wines which will happily partner dishes containing vinegar.
