Comte de Lamaestre Bas-Armagnac 1979 40% 700ml:
Colour: Amber
Nose: Mature smelling- almost smells like a an old full-bodied red - with coriander and toffee and ginger spice.
Palate: Savory and dry on the palate and with grip and chewiness and savoury nutty flavours
Cellaring: Ready, but will Keep
NotesAn intriguing and complex Armagnac.
Armagnac from the Bas region is considered to have the most finesse, also tending to yield spirits that are very supple in their youth. Plantings are mostly Bacco and Ugni Blanc. The Northwestern portion of the Bas-Armagnac (known casually as the Grand Bas Armagnac) has a concentration of quality producers, especially in the department of Les Landes.Deep polished copper colour. Exudes sweet aromas of dates, toffee apple, vanilla, chocolate and nutmeg. The palate is full bodied, plush and round with medium dry flavours of dates, cocoa and soft spice perfectly counterpointed by drying and slightly grippy tannins. Dried apricot, nutmeg and clove aftertaste reverberates with surprising length, echoing back minutes after the final sip.   CLICK HERE to shop more Delord

Delord Vineyard

Our vineyard spans 45 hectares, divided into 11 parcels, and is located in the village of Lannepax. It consists of the four traditional Armagnac grape varieties: Ugni Blanc (58%), Colombard (16%), Folle-Blanche (14%), and Baco (12%). Rinaldo, our vineyard manager, meticulously tends to the vines throughout the year.

Delord Distillery

The distillery is located in Lannepax, the family’s native village. Distillation, a crucial and fascinating step in the creation of Armagnac, occurs in the heart of winter. We are one of the few Armagnac houses using both distillation methods: the continuous distillation typical for Armagnac and double distillation. Our two Armagnac stills, one of which is a "Sier" dating from 1900, are column stills equipped with special "spider plates" ideal for producing aged Armagnacs. The two "double distillation" stills produce fruity eaux-de-vie intended for young Armagnacs.

Winemaking Cellar

The four grape varieties are harvested, pressed, and vinified separately in a winemaking cellar located a few metres from the distillery. Sylvain Delord expertly manages temperature control, must settling, and racking techniques. He aims to produce an aromatic wine that is slightly acidic and low in alcohol, which is ideal for distillation.

Armagnac Ageing

Delord Cellars house over 1,000 barrels and a dozen oak tanks, age and protect the Armagnac eaux-de-vie from the 20th century to the present day. The oldest vintages are stored in Bonbonnes (glass jars) away from light, in a room called Paradise.
