Tasting note
Distillerie La Salamandre in Sarlat, in south-west France, makes this eau de vie from Williams pears grown a few dozen kilometres from the distillery and picked ripe. The Williams is the classic pear for distilling: juicy, intensely perfumed and with a musky nose that is unmistakable.
The fruit ferments naturally, then goes through copper stills where only the heart of the run is kept. It rests for at least two years in vats, never in barrels, because the distillery wants nothing from the wood to get between the pear and the glass.
Tasting. At 45%, the fruit is vivid and direct, so true to the pear that it comes close to biting into one.
Serving. La Salamandre suggests serving it cool but not iced, at around 10 to 12 °C, in an eau de vie glass at the end of a meal. It also goes well with a pear tart or a dark chocolate dessert. Browse more in our eau de vie collection.

Alcohol can only be delivered to a person aged 18 or over. The courier may ask for photo ID and will not leave your order unattended. We do not offer authority to leave on alcohol orders.
We do not deliver to PO boxes or parcel lockers.
