Tasting note
Chateau Poujeaux 2015 is a red Bordeaux from Moulis-en-Medoc, one of only nine estates ranked Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in the 2003 classification.
Moulis is the smallest appellation of the Medoc and sits inland from the great communes of the left bank, which is why its leading estates have long been compared with the classed growths. Poujeaux runs to 52 hectares and blends roughly half cabernet sauvignon with about 40 per cent merlot and small parts of cabernet franc and petit verdot. Philippe Cuvelier, who also owns Clos Fourtet in Saint-Emilion, bought it in 2008.
Decant it an hour ahead and serve at cool room temperature with lamb or beef.
