Dailuaine 2013/8 year old Carn Mor Strictly Limited Scotch Whisky
The Carn Mor Strictly Limited range of Scotch Whisky from the Family-owned Independent Bottlers, Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, are a collection of Scotch whiskies from some of the finest distilleries in Scotland. What makes the whiskies so special is that all the whiskies are non-chill-filtered to keep all of the oils and proteins that give it that fantastic authentic and non-doctored flavour in the bottle. As real as it gets.
This 8 year old scotch whisky was distilled in 2013 at the Speyside Dailuaine distillery. After an initial maturation in barrels this whisky was finished for an additional period of maturation in ex-red wine casks. Prior to bottling the whisky was proofed back to 47.5% ABV, with no chill-filtration or colour added. 1728 bottles were produced.
The whisky has an excellent texture, a 'fattiness' that has become the hall-mark of Dailuaine whisky. The wine finish has added subtle red berry notes (cherries and strawberries), but not excessively so. The 'finish' has been extremely well managed, adding complexity in an elegant and subtle way. The palate has stewed apples, sherbet, ginger spice and a delightfully dry medium-long finish.
