Tasting note
Kentucky straight bourbon means the rules are fixed: at least 51 per cent corn in the mash, new charred oak, nothing added, and at least two years in barrel. Where a bourbon then separates itself is strength and wood, and this one runs at 47 per cent rather than the 40 per cent floor, which is why it carries more weight than a standard shelf bourbon.
The nose is sweet and bright, closer to vanilla and lemon cake than to heavy caramel. The palate balances caramel and vanilla against baking spice and a citrus lift, and the extra strength keeps it from going flat when you add a splash of water.
Drink it neat or with a few drops of water. It makes a serious old fashioned: two parts bourbon, a bar spoon of sugar syrup, two dashes of aromatic bitters, stirred over one large cube with an orange peel. Alcohol can only be delivered to a person aged 18 or over. The courier may ask for photo ID and will not leave your order unattended. We do not offer authority to leave on alcohol orders.
