This is a classic vintage for this outstanding Grand Cru vineyard which is home to the famous ‘Clos St Hune’ Riesling from Trimbach. Great depth, finesse and shape with rich, intense citrus fruit with notes of minerality and outstanding length. The wine’s great depth of fruit, structure and minerally acidity ensures that 10 years or more of careful cellaring would be well repaid. A great dry Riesling from a great vintage and great vineyard!

Château du Cèdre Cahors 90% Malbec, 5% Merlot and 5% Tannat from certified organic estate vineyards. 100% de-stemmed and fermented for 30 days with daily punch-downs for the first few days. Malolactic conversion occurs in barrel and the wine is matured for 24 months in 25% new French oak barrels. Bottled un-fined and unfiltered, with minimal sulphur.

2019 Clos Tue Loup Saumur Brézé (rouge)100% Cabernet Franc from a 2 ha site planted 1995 on sandy silt over limestone in the south-eastern sector of Brézé. 100% de-stemmed and fermented with indigenous yeast this has a very gentle vinification using maceration with no pump overs. Matured 1/3 in concrete tank and 2/3 in 2-3 year-old barriques for 12 months, then blended and further matured in stainless steel tank for six months and aged an additional 12 months in bottle before release. Very fresh fine and expressive yet also quite restrained. Would benefit from decanting to show its best, this has obvious ageing potential. Bottled un-fined and unfiltered.

From 25 & 55 year-old vines in each of the 3 lieu-dits of Montmains: Montmains proper, Les Fôrets and Butteaux, 3.85 ha in total. Vinified in stainless steel tanks and bottled under stelvin. ’3 sectors, but all Montmains, 3.85 hectares. A calm width of aroma – a good invitation. The palate is soft, dense and tasty while withholding a dry character. The spicy profile and fine grip give length, elegance and vivacity. 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Vau de Vey Pierrick Laroche (Maison des Hâtes)Because of its south and east exposure, Vau de Vey only gets the morning sun. It thus qualifies as a cool Climat, even more so due to the north wind that rushes into the valley. And the wines reflect this through their restraint, crispness and purity. Here there is a particularly thick layer of Kimmeridgian marl in the subsoil, while the extremely steep hillsides make machine access almost impossible in some places! Pierrick’s Vau de Vey sees 15 months elevage in used barrels.”This from a contract – the same vigneron each year, in must. A large part in large-format barrels – but all barrel elevage. That’s fresh and floral – less width but with attractive intensity. Unlike the nose, the flavour profile is a little warmer and rounder but also very tasty. This wine is named for Frédéric Emile Trimbach who became famous for providing a new guarantee of quality and authenticity for Trimbach in 1898. The south and south-east facing Ribeauvillé Grand Crus of Geisberg and Osterberg have been producing this wine for several generations. The average age of the vines, 45 years, results in limited yields. ’Vivid straw-green. Delicate nuances of jasmine and lemon verbena complicate aromas of green apple, lime and minerals. Pure and penetrating on the palate, boasting superb definition to the flavors of gin, mint, minerals, violet and lemon zest. The finish is remarkably crystalline and long. This Frédéric Emile is currently dominated by its Osterberg component (the cuvée is a blend of Osterberg and Geisberg grand cru grapes), which brings chiseled acidity, as opposed to the Geisberg’s ripe fruit personality and licorice quality. Despite the difficult year, this is likely to become a memorable Frédéric Emile. So much so, in fact, that it’s currently impossible to choose between it and the more famous Clos Sainte Hune.’ 94 points, Ian d’Agata,

Composed of 33% Pinot Noir and 67% Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs, Villers-Marmery, Ambonnay and Cumières. Bottled with 8 gms/litre dosage. ‘Since Gosset makes a point of commercializing wines only when they deem them ready, the 2012 Grand Millésime Brut will be released at the end of this year, while the 2010 and 2008 continue to wait in the wings. The wine is still quite tightly wound after its recent disgorgement, unfurling in the glass with a youthful bouquet of warm biscuits, apple, lemon and peach that picks up a more pronounced smoky top note as the wine sits in the glass. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, broad and powerful, with a deep and concentrated core, incisive acids and a precise, saline finish. A blend of 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah this wine has all the perfume and fleshy generosity of fully ripe Grenache fruit with freshness and finesse of tannins and that faint hint of provence herbs that makes southern Rhone reds, and Mont-Redon, so popular. Amazing value.

100% Cabernet Franc from a 3.7 ha west facing site on silty clay over Turonian limestone on the southern side of Brézé planted in 1990. 100% de-stemmed and fermented with partial whole berries with indigenous yeast in concrete tank for 5 months with a very gentle maceration using infusion and no pump overs. Very expressive and perfumed and made in pure juicy and early drinking style. Very fresh and fine with lovely light texture and very little tannin this is a perfect wine for spring and summer and early drinking. Super attractive and great drinking and refreshment even in the warmer months. Bottled un-fined and unfiltered. ’Of great purity, this wine has a precise definition, svelte, and offers the very energetic flesh of Cabernet Franc. Just 300 bottles produced in a good vintage from this tiny 0.3 ha site south facing vineyard with notable gypsum in the soil. This vineyard was purchased around 2010 by Eric Kientzler and is quickly proving to be one of the most distinguished Rieslings in the fabulous line-up of spectacularly dry and mineral Rieslings at this address. The 2018 sports 6.6 gms RS which is balanced by notably high acidity giving a perfect balance. The wines from this vineyard continue to impress as Eric finds the best expression after 10 years of work in these vines. Fabulous. The 2018 vintage finishes with 13.49% Alc/Vol; 6.61 g/l RS; 6.78 g/l TA.
