This vineyard was purchased around 2010 by Eric Kientzler and is quickly proving to be one of the most distinguished Rieslings in the fabulous line-up of spectacularly dry and mineral Rieslings at this address. The 2018 sports 6.6 gms RS which is balanced by notably high acidity giving a perfect balance. The wines from this vineyard continue to impress as Eric finds the best expression after 10 years of work in these vines. Fabulous. This wine is named for Frรฉdรฉric Emile Trimbach who became famous for providing a new guarantee of quality and authenticity for Trimbach in 1898. The south and south-east facing Ribeauvillรฉ Grand Crus of Geisberg and Osterberg have been producing this wine for several generations. The average age of the vines, 45 years, results in limited yields.
โVivid straw-green. Delicate nuances of jasmine and lemon verbena complicate aromas of green apple, lime and minerals. Pure and penetrating on the palate, boasting superb definition to the flavors of gin, mint, minerals, violet and lemon zest. The finish is remarkably crystalline and long. This Frรฉdรฉric Emile is currently dominated by its Osterberg component (the cuvรฉe is a blend of Osterberg and Geisberg grand cru grapes), which brings chiseled acidity, as opposed to the Geisbergโs ripe fruit personality and licorice quality. The Alejandro Vermentino is one wine, but two picks of fruit. The earlier pick was leaner and lighter on the palate but intensely freshly shucked oyster shell with lemon and pepper. The latter pick was rich and oily with salty characters, consistent with rich styles. The resultant wine is full of Vermentino aroma, a medium to full bodied palate, fresh but rich.

After a dry winter and an initially cold month of March, spring temperatures above average favored early budding and premature flowering. From mid-May to early June, the weather was mostly rainy and humid. In the subsequent ripening phase, rainfall was normal, with few heat peaks with concomitant short periods of drought. The harvest began in early September and until mid-October was repeatedly interrupted by single rainy days, luckily alternating with prolonged periods of sunshine.
