Tasting note
Ballykeefe is an independent, family-owned single estate distillery built in 2016 on the Ging family's working farm in Ireland. Every drop is triple distilled from barley sown, grown and harvested on that farm, in copper stills designed in Ireland and made in Italy, using the farm's deep well water.
This Single Pot Still whiskey follows the classic Irish recipe of 60% malted and 40% unmalted barley. It carries no added colouring and is bottled at 46% in a 70 cl bottle.
Nose. Toffee and caramel, soft vanilla from the oak, malted cereal and a faint touch of coconut.
Palate. Earthy malt with liquorice, clove, dried fruit and green cardamom. A few drops of water bring out a creamy, silky texture.
Finish. Long and malty, moving to clove-studded orange peel with aniseed in the background.
