Tasting note

The Pichot family have deep roots in Vouvray: they were restaurateurs in the village from 1739 and became growers in 1770, when they bought vines on the Coteau de la Biche to supply their own tables. Today Christophe Pichot makes the wines from vineyards on the slopes above the village and in the Vallee de Nouys, farmed organically with grasses between the rows and low yields. This is their traditional method sparkling Vouvray, made from Chenin Blanc and aged on its lees before disgorgement. Sparkling wine is a small part of what the domaine produces, which is mostly still Chenin. Expect a fresh, fairly full sparkling wine with a fine, lively mousse and a textbook Chenin profile of orchard fruit and a light honeyed note. Good as an aperitif and just as useful through a meal. Serve well chilled.
