Tasting note
Grande Champagne is the innermost cru of the region and the one whose spirit ages longest, and this is a single cru bottling rather than a blend drawn from several. The spirits in it run between ten and twenty five years, matured in Limousin oak, first in younger casks and then in older ones in a damp cellar, which is what keeps it supple instead of drying out.
The nose is floral before it is woody: peach and quince, jasmine and clove, with vanilla and toasted oak arriving after a few minutes in the glass. The palate is soft on entry, then dried fruit, cocoa and leather, with rancio on a long warm finish.
Serve it neat at room temperature in a tulip glass, three or four centimetres, after a meal. It does not need ice and it does not want a mixer. The bottle is a decanter shaped carafe, which is the reason it turns up as a gift. 700ml at 40 per cent, from Verrieres.

Alcohol can only be delivered to a person aged 18 or over. The courier may ask for photo ID and will not leave your order unattended. We do not offer authority to leave on alcohol orders.
