Tasting note
Lira is a liquorice liqueur from Limonio, the family producer based at Partinico in Sicily, bottled in a 500ml size.
The name. Limonio chose it for two reasons. The lira was Italy's old currency, which the family links with creativity, and it is also the lyre, the musical instrument associated with moderation and balance. The idea behind the liqueur is that pairing of inspiration and restraint.
Serving. Pour it well chilled, in a small glass, after dinner. You will find it with our Italian after-dinner bottles in the amaro collection.
Guide: Bitters Explained: Cocktail Bitters, Bitter Liqueurs and Amaro
"Bitters" means two different things: dash bottles used a few drops at a time, and bitter liqueurs poured by the glass.
