Tasting note

Marcel Couturier's domaine sits in Fuisse, in the southern Maconnais, where the family sold its grapes to the cooperative for generations before Marcel began bottling under his own name in 2005. His children Cladie and Auxence now share the work, and the vineyards are farmed organically. This Bourgogne Blanc comes from relatively young vines of around 15 to 20 years, planted on schist topsoil over calcareous clay and limestone. It ferments with native yeasts and is raised for about eight months in older barrels, which add texture without an obvious oak flavour. On the nose there is lime blossom and chamomile with ripe yellow fruit, and the palate is fleshy and juicy, held together by fine, lively acidity. An easy, versatile white Burgundy for roast chicken, fish in butter sauce or soft cheeses.
