Tasting note

Old Perth was first bottled in 1908 by the Thomson family, grocers in Perth, and every box still carries the family's name in homage. Today the Morrison family, one of Scotland's oldest whisky families and former owners of Bowmore, Auchentoshan and Glen Garioch, look after the brand. Release No.4 in the Old Perth Vintage Collection is a small batch of 1,482 bottles, married from three sherry casks all filled with malt whisky distilled in 2009: a first fill Oloroso cask, a second fill Oloroso cask and a first fill Pedro Ximenez cask. It was bottled in 2024 at 53.6% with natural colour and no chill filtration. Deep mahogany in the glass, it opens with sandalwood, dried tobacco leaf, raisins and sultanas, then candied orange peel, brown sugar, cinnamon, root ginger and clove, finishing nutty and waxy.
