The Pintail brand was originally established by Matthew Gloag and Sons in the 1930's for bottling their dry sherries. After the trademark was allowed to lapse it was picked up by Keith Bonnington (Keeper of the Quaich and owner of The Whisky Cellars Independent Bottlers) to create a range of spirits and wines. With a focus on unusual bottlings, and whiskies finished in rare (and often sweet) wine casks, the Pintail range is built around a focus on extremely limited and desirable bottlings.Â

The Pintail Caol Ila11 Year Old Pineau des Charentes cask finished scotch whisky was finished in a ex-Pineau des Charentes cask. Pineau des Charentes is a much revered fortified wine of the Cognac region in France. Expect unmistakable Caol Ila peat smoke on the nose, with floral and fruity aromas. The palate is sweet, but balanced with the citrusy smokey malt character. Handles the high ABV with ease. An incredibly long finish, and so very moreish!Â
