This bottling bears the phrase โCรฉpages Noblesโ meaning โnoble grapesโ, a reference to the high-quality Folle Blanche and Colombard grapes used to produce this marvellous bottling. It is another in a line of excellent single vintage releases from the small-scale producer Domaine Boingnรจres. This is a distillery with an unerring commitment to quality, using the majority of their small 50 acre vineyards to grow the challenging, yet delicious, Folle Blanche grape. The same family has farmed this land since 1807 and is now in its 6th generation. Furthermore, the distillery refuses to use any caramel colouring or chill-filtration and is often bottled at cask strength. They continue to use traditional continuous alembics, which run non-stop during the 20 day distilling season. The Domaine often distils as low as 52%, meaning that no dilution is required before casking or bottling, and the maximum flavour is ensured. Maturation occurs in a small barn on the estate in French oak casks, some (like this bottling) resting for many decades. The resulting Armagnac is of the highest quality, with a breathtaking balance between delicious, oily, spicy fruit, and robust, decadent oak. A fantastic bottle from one of the best in the industry.

Smell: vast fineness of the nose, peach, grape, apricot and melon, darker undertones of chocolate and a limited flow of wood, plum and marzipan.

Pretty gold colour, brilliant. A subtle nose of fine spices (white chocolate, vanilla), slightly creamy (crรจme brรปlรฉe, age of almonds) where woody and toasted notes develop (toast, liquorice, butterscotch). The tannins in the mouth are firm, silky and present at the same time. We find this balance between wood, spices and fruit. Long in the palate.

The oldest brandy distilled in France, celebrated its 700th years in 2011.
Armagnac is a distinctive kind of brandy produced in the Armagnac region in Gascony, southwest France. It is distilled from wine usually made from a blend of grapes including Baco 22A, Colombard, Folle Blanche and Ugni blanc, traditionally using column stills rather than the pot stills used in the production of cognac, which is made only from Ugni blanc grapes. The resulting spirit is then aged in oak barrels before release.
From the youngest Armagnac to the oldest Vintages, the evolution of Armagnacs is progressive and continuous: there is no sharp aromatic boundary between a VSOP (more than 4 years in wood) and an Hors d'Age (more than 10 years under wood). The aromas of the wine concentrated by the still are enriched, evaporate, superimposed, masked, transformed, sublimated in contact with the barrel and the test of time. The work of the cellar master further enriches the aromatic palette of blended Armagnacs.
