Manso is the youngest wine from the winery, showing a lot of fresh red fruit, liquorice, subtle touches of wood, and is a seductive young wine.

A blend of 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah this wine has all the perfume and fleshy generosity of fully ripe Grenache fruit with freshness and finesse of tannins and that faint hint of provence herbs that makes southern Rhone reds, and Mont-Redon, so popular. Amazing value.

This award-winning wine is regarded as Rocca di Frassinello’s first label, ‘le grand vin’ is, following the Bordeaux classification, the highest expression of the Italian-French project. Intense ruby red with a rich aroma and a round, fat flavour.

From stack to stack this young man would swing from barrel to barrel with toes a curl and unrelenting furl. Lengths of carefully laid stillage ensures his safety as he endeavours to tend his precious store. The Tomfoolery ‘Monkey Business’ Cabernet Franc is sourced from a select premium vineyard on the borders of the two villages of Bethany and Vine Vale in the Barossa Valley. Grown by 6th generation grape growers, the Hage family, this flat site has varying depths of sand/sandy loams overlaying red clays and shale and situated at 316 metres above sea level. The fruit is handpicked at optimum ripeness and flavour profile, ensuring overall balance before being gently destemmed to keep as many whole berries as possible. It is then open-fermented for a minimum of five days with the juice being pumped over the skins twice daily to maximize oxygenation and purity of fermentation. Once the wine is dry it is then gently basket-pressed minimizing the extraction of harsh tannins. Matured for 18 months in seasoned French oak barriques. Colour: Medium purple with a bright rim. Aroma: Exotic, crunchy dried leaves, camphor chest, spice and a lift of fresh cut grasses. Palate: Juicy, ripe dark berries and fruitcake with a tangy acid spike, finishes long with fine but firm tannins and ethereal varietal flavour.

Matured in 40% new oak, this has a voluminous, multifaceted bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, cedar and perhaps more rose petal than violet at the moment. Less is more. Less fertilizers, less pesticides and less intervention. Vegan friendly. From an 80yo vineyard in Nurioopta, hand picked and naturally fermented for 12-14 days in an open fermenter. Basket pressed to seasoned oak for 12 months before bottling without fining or filtration. Color: Medium to deep ruby with garnet hues. Nose: A complex nose of red fruits, spices, and earth. There are hints of raspberry, strawberry, plum, black pepper, and cedar. There is also a touch of sweetness on the nose, from the ripe fruit. Palate: The wine is medium-bodied with a rich, velvety texture. The flavors of red fruits, spices, and earth are well-balanced by the oaky notes. There is also a touch of sweetness on the finish. The wine has good acidity, which helps to balance the sweetness and the tannins. Overall: This is a complex and elegant wine that is well-structured and balanced. It would be a great pairing with grilled meats, game, or hearty pasta dishes. Other notes: The wine was bottled unfiltered, which gives it a slightly hazy appearance. It has a medium-plus acidity and a long, lingering finish.

From the deep, red-purple colour onward, this is an alluring, elegant beast. The bouquet is classic—peppery, sweet berries, ample spice—and the palate is luxurious, with plenty of soft tannin and a long, rewarding carry. After 7 days maceration post-ferment, the wine is gently basket pressed and racked to stainless vats (50%) and old French oak hogsheads (50%) for 6 months maturation. Young Blood Grenache is pure, uncomplicated enjoyment.

He was a snub-nosed, flat-browed, common-faced boy enough; and as dirty a juvenile as one would wish to see; but he had about him all the airs and manners of a man, void of taking responsibility or consequences of his mis-doing. The master of his surroundings as Shiraz is the master of ours.  The Tomfoolery ‘Artful Dodger’ Shiraz is sourced from a premium 80 year old vineyard in the sub-region of Seppeltsfield in Barossa Valley. Grown by 6th generation grape growers the Mattschoss family, this flat site is predominately alluvial loam and red clay over lime and iron stone and situated at 255 metres above sea level. The fruit is handpicked at optimum ripeness and flavour profile ensuring overall balance before being gently destemmed to keep as many whole berries as possible and then open fermented for a minimum of five days with the juice being pumped over the skins twice daily to maximize oxygenation and purity of fermentation. Once the wine is dry it is then gently basket pressed, minimizing the extraction of harsh extractive tannins. Matured for 24 months in seasoned French oak barriques. Colour: A core of ruby maturing to brick. Aroma: Old vine influence shows with satsuma plum and blueberry perfume, wisps of smoke.  Palate: The palate is full bodied yet elegant, with rich with bramble flavours balanced and sweet spice balanced with refreshing acidity. Soft tannins structure the long, slightly toasty finish.

100% Cabernet Franc from a 3.7 ha west facing site on silty clay over Turonian limestone on the southern side of Brézé planted in 1990. 100% de-stemmed and fermented with partial whole berries with indigenous yeast in concrete tank for 5 months with a very gentle maceration using infusion and no pump overs. Very expressive and perfumed and made in pure juicy and early drinking style. Very fresh and fine with lovely light texture and very little tannin this is a perfect wine for spring and summer and early drinking. Super attractive and great drinking and refreshment even in the warmer months. Bottled un-fined and unfiltered. ’Of great purity, this wine has a precise definition, svelte, and offers the very energetic flesh of Cabernet Franc. Produced from vines in 3 sites averaging more than 40 years old located on the best red clay soils close to the Hermitage hill. 2019 not yet reviewed - review for 2018 “Scents of cracked pepper and mint emerge on the nose of the 2018 Crozes Hermitage Alberic. (Longtime fans of this fine domaine will note that the names of the various cuvées have been shortened.)
