Tasting note
Three Foxes, the distillery in Heidelberg West, Victoria, pitches its Triple Bitter as an Aussie answer to an Italian classic. Citrus, rhubarb and cranberry sit with native spices and a range of bittering herbs, made using old-school methods (more than nostalgic habit) paired with modern science.
Three serves the distillery suggests.
Negroni. 30ml Triple Bitter, 30ml Three Foxes Sunny Arvo Ruby Vermouth and 30ml dry gin in a tumbler, garnished with orange peel.
Triple Bitter Lemon. 30ml Triple Bitter with 90ml lemon squash soda in a highball, garnished with grapefruit.
Australiano. 30ml Triple Bitter and 30ml Sunny Arvo Ruby Vermouth topped with dry ginger ale, served in a tumbler with orange peel and a green olive.
More bitters are in our bitters collection.
Guide: Bitters Explained: Cocktail Bitters, Bitter Liqueurs and Amaro
"Bitters" means two different things: dash bottles used a few drops at a time, and bitter liqueurs poured by the glass.
