Tasting note
Bluecoat is made by Philadelphia Distilling, which describes itself as the first craft distillery in Pennsylvania since Prohibition, and it bills this as the original American dry gin. Every botanical in it is certified organic.
Where a London dry is usually built around juniper, Bluecoat puts a light citrus blend up front, mostly sweet citrus and lemon peels. Organic Mediterranean juniper berries bring fruity, spicy and earthy notes, angelica root adds a soft, slightly sweet woodiness, and coriander seed sits in the background with a delicate floral, lightly vegetal note.
Tasting. Sweet aromatics open the nose before gentle, earthy juniper. The texture is very smooth, the flavours build in layers across the palate, and the finish is bright and very long.
Bluecoat's own site leads its cocktails with the All American Martini. See more in our gin collection.
