Tasting note
Orange Colombo is a wine-based orange drink from Distilleries et Domaines de Provence. Rosé wine is blended with bitter orange peel, sweet orange infusions, cinchona and sugar, then rested in vat for six weeks so the flavours can round out.
In the glass. The colour follows the rosé it is made from, anywhere between orange-pink and light raspberry. Orange rind leads the nose, with a fruitier mandarin note and a hint of mulled-wine spice. On the palate ripe orange meets a green, zesty edge, and a bitter note carries the finish.
Serving. Pour it well chilled, 8 to 10°C, into a cold glass with a thin strip of orange or lemon zest, and go easy on the ice so it does not dilute. For a longer drink, the producer's Spicy Orange Spritz tops 60ml of Orange Colombo with orange juice, mint and prosecco. It also pairs with dark chocolate cake. More in our aperitifs collection.
